Failing Motherhood

14. Embracing Homeschool & Raising Daughters with Rebecca & Alaina Walsh

Danielle Bettmann | Wholeheartedly Episode 14

Rebecca Walsh never intended to stay home with her kids.
She was dead set AGAINST homeschooling.

Now, her 16-year-old daughter Alaina joins her to share their journey of homeschooling full time.  She shares her fears of lack of socialization, the curriculum overwhelm, figuring out how to manage a routine rather than a schedule, and so many other lessons learned along the way.

Highlights from their advice:

  • Teach them to learn & enjoy learning rather than focus on teaching ALL.THE.THINGS.
  • Many kids don't learn like yours, and that's okay.
  • Find a place to get away.
  • Focus on your relationship first and foremost.
  • Flexibility is the name of the game.

Rebecca & Alaina have created a podcast together to nurture mother/daughter relationships.  Together they believe it's not a friendship- it's BETTER, and the more a daughter knows her mom, the stronger the daughter.

We get a vulnerable look at what that looks like at their house.
